Artist Statement:
My work is a practice and meditation in the in the exploration of the realms of Spirit. In much of my work there is a theme of illuminated objects in darkness, a sense of centeredness and balance in which I seek throughout life. As my modes of creative expression have increased, I've gone from oil/arcylic painting to carpentry and woodburning; from playing classical French horn to finding my own sound and voice. At the root of it all is the desire to understand the soul and the highest State of Love. The Holy books of the ancient cultures, modern theories on quantum mechanics and the pattern of music and number play on my canvases in new conception. My work is very symbolistic and every form and color that I use is to convey a specific emotional intensity. Originally my paintings were a kind of thought-form or image that I would use to draw energy from or help me to focus in a certain state of mind. Sometimes the completed image will just pop into my head, other times I'll have a dream that influences a particular scene or mood, or spend an enormous time thinking about a concept before I ever put pencil to paper, but the process of trying to bring the creation into being with the force that it hits me is where the magic really happens and reaching the final form is often more than I imagined.

The process of creating a work is the same process of creating your own life. It takes vision, time, patience, struggle, faith and devotion but in the thick of it all you reach up to your highest potential.  I learn a new way to perceive or how to view a scene from many different vantage points but in each work I learn a depth of myself I had not known before. There is a well of capacity and potential within each of us that waits to be drawn from.

As I've traveled  across the county recently, my work has shifted to conveying the beautiful landscapes I've traversed through. From the hots springs of the Southwest to the mountains and waterfalls of Oregon and Washington, my medium as of late has been watercolor. Nature has a way of striking a balance within itself. In embarking on my journey across the country and immersing myself into nature and self reflection, I have observed the symbiotic relationships that form all ecosystems. My mission is to aid in the healing and unity of humanity by honoring and appreciating the wisdom of all cultures and weaving them together in a way that draws the mind to the beauty of opposites and the necessity for difference in collaboration.
